December Spotlight: Venous Leg Ulcers (VLUs)
In this newsletter, we’re highlighting Venous Leg Ulcers (VLUs)—the most common type of chronic lower leg ulcer, often caused by chronic venous insufficiency (CVI). These ulcers typically form in the inner lower leg (“gaiter area”) and are associated with valve damage in leg veins, leading to blood pooling, increased pressure, and eventual skin breakdown.
Success Story: 14-Week VLU Healing Journey
This month, we’re celebrating a patient who came to us with a persistent VLU. After 14 weeks of care, including:
Compression therapy
Advanced wound dressings
Supportive home visits
…the wound was fully healed.
